Hooke'm Horns!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm excited that we finally have a Longhorn 10k! This will be the first annual 10k Longhorn Race and I was lucky enough to sign up and will run this race in 5 days. In 20 years I hope to say I'm still doing this race:)

AUSTIN, Texas — The Longhorn Run, 10K and two-mile races that incorporate venues and other aspects of The University of Texas at Austin previously unavailable to runners, will take place on Saturday, May 1, starting in front of the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center.

The two-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 10K race starts at 9 a.m. Both races go through west and north campus, and culminate in the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

"We have been working closely with Nike and RunTex to ensure everyone who participates has a great experience and wants to run again next year," said Race Director Liam O'Rourke, a senior in Plan I Honors and history. The Longhorn Run Honorary Committee Chair is Kim Heilbrun, wife of University of Texas at Austin President William Powers Jr.

Proceeds from the race will go to the Excellence Fund, a Student Government endowment dedicated to student projects and programs. The purpose of the endowment is to give students the resources to make a difference on campus, in the community and around the world. In 2009, the Excellence Fund committee allocated $5,000 to students.

Velvetsky, the race begins at 9am and he will be done in less an hour, and he will have plenty of time to head back "home" for the family functions. I hope he can do this, it's the First Annual.

AND it's only $25 you cannot beat that price, trust me. Also he would need to sign up like asap, the cut off registration is Thursday unless capacity full.

Keep me posted, I'd love to meet him Saturday.

Ladies - Meet my Boston Terrier named Bevo, yes, named after the Texas Longhorns. My bf went to school there for a bit and is a BIG fan. Isn't he ferocious?
