In about 2 1/2 weeks, Austin will have another very important 10k (6.2 miles) here in Austin. Everyone is welcome to join and walk or run the 5k (3.1 miles) or the 10k (6.2 miles). You can also sign up to volunteer or be a spectator and support the runners.

This is another favorite race of ours, my 18 yr old Julian and I will be participating again.

that's great Velvetsky! I believe Yvon M is also doing a Susab B Komen race soon. I love hearing about anyone who joins a race to walk or run. You are winning either way by doing something healthy and most races are for a great cause.

Texas Round Up is having some special guests appear, some of the participants from the show BIGGEST LOSER. We will see about 7 guests, hopefully. Their stories are very inspiring. I get tears everytime I watch that show. I like to see how they eat and I try hard to eat the same foods. It's very hard though because those of you who know me, know that I LOVE food so much:D

Suzy don't quit posting this kind of info. I can't do this one because of a baseball game (my son). I can do a 10K. Hope to join you on a run soon.

Suzy ... I don't know if you know this but our twin nieces (Genny's girls) were track stars at their high school. Now one of their kids (Elijah - 14 y/o) has started running and had (I think) his regionals this past weekend. He placed 1st in 2 events and beat 1 record and his own.

QFEST: I think we have 4 bands but alot of musicians who will jam with each other thru the day. :)

Yes I remember she told me about them, I was so impressed and they are very inspiring! Hey what a good feeling to beat you're own time but what an incredible feeling when you beat someone else:D it's like instant gratification that yes...the hard training payed off, indeed.

Qfest will be a blast! Speaking of, I need to order a tshirt, going to send in my order:p

Hi I wanted to update on Saturday's Texas Round Up here in Austin.

My son John Julian Duarte, age 18 completed in 52 minutes and came in 3rd place in his age group, we are proud of him!

I came in at 55 minutes and I'm happy with that time. There were 2 hills that were challenging! We had a great time. Julian's girlfriend went too so maybe that's why he did so well:p

Next race up is Saturday May 1, Longhorn 10k, HOOK'EM HORNS!

Nice pics and Congrats to you and Julian. My cousin is trying to get my grand-nephew to run the Longhorn race on Saturday. But it's his sisters Senior Prom so you know everyone is gonna be busy with that. We actually have 3 seniors this year in our family.

Anyway .... Elijah ran on Saturday for the Susan K run and place 5th overall and 1st in his age group. That boy can run!

Velvetsky I heard about him!!! I was very impressed and wanted to know his final time. He needs to get more involved, there's prizes involved usually. Medals, awards, etc., he seems to have found something he's excellent at. I hope he can do some races here in Austin soon! We have plenty and I sure hope to meet him one day, Congrats!
