I saw a track listing last night after downloading "The Answer" from the link you provided, and I immediately wanted to hear all of them haha. But if you can't do that, then "I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love," "Magic Number," "Hurt," or "Falling" would be nice! :)

I came to the LLB fandom late and have a lot of catching up to do as far as the early tunes. I think I've bought most everything commercially available since 2004, but I've never heard of the Crossroads appearance or "Magic Number" or "Falling" mentioned above.

There are some of us who didn't explore the old forums much before they morphed into what eventually became this site, so it isn't wasted effort at all to bring over the gems that we missed!

I have a few other tracks they did w/ Ronnie Milsap--but unfornunately, I didn't catch ALL of that show, so I did miss some. Others include "smokey Mnt Rain" & the likes....w/ LLB doing back-up.

Yeah, I saw that was on the Outtakes CD. I've got the Santana CD, but I've never heard any of the songs/variations on the Outtakes CD. So far, every song you've provided sounds great.

EDIT: Wow! Just listened to "Falling." What a song! Love how the harmonies are the intro. Really sets the tone to the song.

Hmm ... very interesting. I like how Santana kept the similar structure of Henry's fills on the song. I think the version with Santana sounds more complete (sounds like JoJo added some bass notes and the vocals are cleaned up a bit), but it's really interesting to see how the song progressed.

So what exactly is the story behind these songs? Were they all recorded at Willie Nelson's studio when the Boys were recording their first album or what? Songs that just didn't make the cut? I'm curious to know ...

ANY song writier will tell you, the song is of the time they were writing it. And the Boys themselves have said, they were writing about what was going on with them, their lives, and loves.
Some songs are romantic, some songs are about loss....but they don't always mesh well on an album at the same time! hahahaha

1998! I'm so excited *tears* to hear the Boys when they were . . . boys! I have Blue Cat Blues and I thought that was early on, but this gives an even better insight into the early development of their music. I agree, there is something very catchy about this, even though it sounds dated.

I wish they would air this show again. It was the very first time I saw or knowingly heard LLB. I'd love to get it on DVD! Every time they play it, it is always on HD and I don't get that :mad:

Sorry Rachel, I only got it on VHS...but that got broken a while ago. The songs from the CMT CrossRoads were put on the computer tho, so thats good!
I've never seen it rerun, since that one time in 2005!

Anybody know if someone has it??? Few years back I THINK someone (guitar dave maybe??? Charleene/greeneyes might remember!) was going to put it on DVD...but I never heard anything of it again! :o That was a FUN show! How they were in such WONDER of Ronnie Milsap & everything! I loved how H was wearing a "Live at the Filmore" t-shirt in the rehersal clips!! LOL He's such a good-boy to promote them like that! hahahaha

Memories...I think it was my 1st time SEEING them too....well, after catching the "Heaven" Video, I mean! LOL It's what made me WANT to see them live! ;)

I just discovered that my Blue Cat Blues CD is a reissue, and there are songs on the original that I don't have. Specifically, all of the SRV covers (the first ones and Pride and Joy). My CD starts with Heaven.

Does anyone have these tracks that is willing to share? I love the live versions I've seen/heard of Pride and Joy, but they are never complete.

If these tracks are available somewhere, I'd be happy to buy them, but I've never seen them.

There are two bonus tracks on my CD though, I think on tracks 17 &18, that are different versions of two tracks during the set. Even to just listen to them, if somebody doesn't feel comfortable sharing....

According to the discography, I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love is your #3. On the reissue, after the main 12 tracks, there are a bunch of blank tracks and then #18 (alternate version of Friday Night) and #19 (alternate version of I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love) which are inferior to the ones included in the main disc, so I never listen to them. Our #3 is Dime Mi Amor.

I guess they reconfigured the album to be all LLB songs, and tried to make it appear to be all one show. In fact, they stole JoJo saying it was the "last song of the night" off of Pride & Joy and stuck it on the end of My Sweet, Sweet Kiss to make it flow into EOANB. (OK, that sounds like I have the album memorized--maybe too much--but it is my go-to companion on boring commutes ;) )

I figured these two cuts must have been recorded at sound check or something...they have that raw, club-like tone to them that I actually prefer. I couldn't listen to the studio-release version of Heaven for the longest time because it just didn't sound like them to me. I got hooked off the Cottonfields and Crossroads documentary, which I saw on PBS, and which showed just the boys playing, no keyboards or horns or extra stuff...I actually took that CD back and swapped it for the Blue Cat one...now, of course, being thoroughly addicted, I listen to whatever I can wrap my ears around and love it all! Anyhoo, I think Henry just RIPS IT UP on track #18! So funny the way we all have our favorites! :)

I just went back and listened to #18 Friday Night and #19 I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love again. I think they were from the first concert they did at BCB. There are two reasons I guess I never listen to them 1) Friday Night is too close in proximity to the version on the beginning when I play the CD in a loop in the car, and 2) I Don't Wanna Lose Your Love was the first time they sang it in public and they messed the words up and that makes me cringe a little (although I know it isn't a big deal). I like the version they sang a couple of weeks later in the main part of the CD.

I, too, prefer the live versions of just about everything. Does everyone know about the 30+ concerts at archive.org? I can give you a list of my favorites.
