View Full Version : Mark's wicked idea

I started a separate thread for Mark's cloisonne pin idea instead of leaving it with the lanyards - hoping for less confusion.
Just so we're all on the same page, here is what a cloisonne pin is:
Decorative enamel work in which metal filaments are fused to the surface of an object to outline a design that is filled in with enamel paste.
The only limit to their design is our imagination. Just for discussion and to get the ball rolling, I made a very rough mock-up of one for Sacred with the old adobe mission as a background. (This is a 2" long pin.) However, the pin could be just the name of the CD. Or it could have Texas as a background. Or...
And the color combos are endless. I suppose price constraints will let us know what we can afford to 'dream'.

OK, I go see what I can find out about that too.
That is likely to be MUCHO expensive though.
And Erni - thanks for the continued support. Where would I be without you?

OK, y'all take your own peek. This idea might work!

This is not bad for units of 100.

Mark, according to their chart, there's only a 20 cent difference per pin from the 3/4" size to the 1 1/4". That's $2.69 or $2.89 per pin (not including postage).
The lanyard is only 1" wide, right?

I've been reading the discussion here and I do like the idea of the "roots" lanyard. The pin idea is fabulous but I was under the impression that the idea was that the pins would be CD art pins. My cowboy hat is decorated with "hat pins" from each state that I have actually traveled to, to see LLB and for Texas - I have some city pins as well. Having them on my lanyard would be much easier for me to display them - than hauling my hat where-ever I go. I'd definately be interested in a CD art pin.
Mark - you always seem to have those wheels in motion.
AWESOME idea Mark. It would be so unique and special to LaOnda. I am all for it. I think we have something happening here. :D Just curious, would "Sacred" and "Forgiven" be done at two different times? Also, hope this doesn't sound dumb, but what if we did another pin that just had "LLB" for their self-titled "Los Lonely Boys" cd? I figure that spelling it all out would be way too long. Just a thought - if it is stupid, pretend I didn't write this. ;) :o
Oh, did you notice their is a tiny clause "One time die charge for $125.00 for orders less than 5,000" ????

OK, before we go completely crazy here....
Cuz I am inclined to go crazy you know....
Square pins with the album art are fine, but even in 2" size would be tiny tiny tiny and lose scale and readability.
But they are a starting place.
The Los Lonely Boys logotype is a good pin...as is the silhouette...
Those would justify a die-making charge for us and probably be something we could ask Kevin to at least authorize (since I've had exactly zero luck getting them into merch).
So everybody - thinking cap on - if we focused on a pin or two - would we want album art or a tie-in (meaning like Belle's draft design for a Sacred pin)?
And as long as we are on the subject, La Onda and/or Crossroads pins?
Let's think outside the box, as long as we are being wicked.
(SIS: I can not BELIEVE you titled the thread this way hahahahahahahah)

Ev: there's no dumb and you know it.
VS: I did not even think about your hat. But everybody, that gives us more place to pin to - not just lanyards. We could even send one to the president to put in his lapel. Cuz shure ain't no fans wear suits...although I'm thinking I'll wear a tux to the Austin Long Center event in April. With my Stacy's naturally.
Everybody - pins could be two pin back or one, and don't matter for size unless you are somewhat 'constrained' (i'd use another word, but won't) - they could be pinned to read horizontal and still hang from the lanyard. The longer / taller the heavier and thus your lanyard gets to be out of control.

And if we had unlimited funds, each of Belle's song title pics could be pins too........

Mark! Whatever you're smokin', put it down, boy! :D
I think a circle shaped pin with the Forgiven album art would be cool, kinda like a tiny cd? :)

Okay...
I thinka pin (or 2,3,4...) is a GREAT idea!!
I collect Hard Rock Cafe pins.....TONS of them, and I ADORE them totally!
So I get what Mark is saying about the 1 vs. 2 pins on it, taller, longer & heavier......sometimes bigger is not always better!! LOL
I Vote for the sillouhette as a DEFINATE!! I'm actually SURPRISED there hasn't been one Before!! Really!! Ian just told me "Nope, never had one that I know of"...when I asked about one. So I say the sillouhette!! (and I'll take 4 of them please!! LOL)
Album art I agree would be TINY, but do-able, I think. Go for it.
I'm thrilled you had this idea Mark...Thank You! I would SO love to collect MANY many LLB pins to go in my growing collection I have ( I too have cities I've visited, as well as zooz, & other parks....)......
But I do favor the single pin stud over the double pin backs. Don't know why, but I do.
So great idea----and hEY!!! "wicked" is OUR phrase up here in New England!!! LOL
