Mark, has there been any thought about doing 2009 "Forgiven" lanyards? It would be so cool to have those, since the "Sacred" ones were a big hit. I was just curious if that might be in the works.

Ah...

I'm not sure what we should do, but I'm willing to share data and help coordinate.

How many people are interested in some sort of lanyard, either for Forgiven or a more generic one as I proposed before......

I wouldn't mind one or 3 lanyards......never seemed to get to you in time for the other ones before....LOL...just me being a slow-pokw!

But I'd go for a couple LLB lanyards....if that counts for anything.

You can put me down for at least 5, Mark, and I vote for "generic" --- not linked to any album, just Los Lonely Boys.

hi Mark, i do hope we end up with a "Forgiven" design on these. just thought i'd put my vote in on that. i still want at least a dozen no matter what design. props to you and everybody for making this stuff happen.

OK, I been praying over this and here's my thinking.

The original:

Black with neck velcro breakaway, buckle, and hook.
Los Lonely Boys (typeface) in silver, silhouette in gold, Sacred in silver, cross in gold.

We can:

a) expand the old design in black and gold and silver - by adding an Aztec calendar in gold and the Forgiven typeface in silver (like we did the Sacred typeface with scrolls). This is my personal preference, because it holds up well and is visually striking - but it is getting a little long for the length for it all to show.

b) do a) but with Forgiven in blue.

c) do a black lanyard with blue Forgiven and gold / sand Aztec calendar (as I recall, Belle even did a work up like this). Problem is, how do we work in LLB and silhouette (or do we bother)? And if we don't bother, what tells the world that Forgiven is an LLB album? Personally, I don't mind wearing a lanyard that says Forgiven (because we are, ya know), but we gotta "represent" the boys somehow here. Last but not least, I find the color combination a little jangly, but Heather's picks worked out ok, so who am I to complain?

d) something else. anything else. nobody else. (I couldn't resist).

I'm sure our lanyard manufacturer from last time could do what we need. Planning is the key - we got eaten alive by postage last time - more than doubled the unit cost on the 500 lanyards that I purchased.

So I'll go get some preliminary quotes for us - probably for 100 or 200.

We can, also, get lanyards with built in USB...another of my brainy ideas that didn't take.

Everyone on this thread - I would prefer, all things considered, to stay with our build style - velcro breakaway (for safety), but I'm willing to listen to everyone on the separable buckle (which on mine gets used every day).

And I guess I'll ask our "art team" to do some mock ups that we can post in a public space (maybe on the fansite or something) to see what everyone likes...and then we'll ask everyone to get a little skin in the game (as it were). Mi esposa is an understanding girl...but...nuff said.

"b", but I still like generic LLB....because we shouldn't (YOU shouldn't - there! I said it) have to go through this each time our Boys bless us with a new CD. Yes, it's a great collector's item for us fans to mark the CD history --- but it's a LOT of work to get these projects off the ground and for Mark not to lose his shirt (su esposa only understanding for so long. ;) )

You are a sweetie for coverin' my back, but we are a democracy.

And truth be told, why do I keep doing it?

Cuz I'm a fan and I love the fan community as much as I love the boys. Mi esposa, well, she's an understanding person, and heavens, I could waste money on cars, bars or ponies, and I don't. She understands. So, I'll just figure out what to do...again. :-)

So, let's hear your thoughts everyone.

Branded?

Forgiven only?

Or do I do a generic - which in this case it would be my take to "strip down" the original by removing the cross and Sacred and then maybe work out something that could be added for each album.

Or, we go back to our roots. Black lanyard, red Los Lonely Boys and white silhouette? (Sis...when you read this, how about giving this one a try? but pump up the red.....) [[trust me everyone, a red lanyard is NOT the answer, and white gets dirty way too easy]]

OK, a wicked idea just occurred to me. News at 11...

Belle

Here ya go, Mark...the basic - black lanyard, red text, white logo (12"x1"). Of course, the configuration could be changed. Text in middle surrounded by logos, etc. (I hope the red is 'popping' enough.)

It won't be any problem adding additional artwork for any of the CDs. (You know I was born to tweak!) :p

Can't wait to hear what your wicked idea is.

I like this idea, Mark -- and Belle, that looks really good. (The red pops). But, can I put my two cents in from my 'old graphics art days'?....I think we should not go beyond three colors ever. If we start adopting blue from this album and some other color from another, it just gets too busy. Stick with red, white, and trade off between silver and gold if we need to. These last two are monochrome, so they can be exchanged easily. Where's Kellie (F.), Pat? We need some actual current graphics artists to jump in here with advice.....

AustinStratFan

Agreed in every way.

Plus more colors means more separation activity and thus more cost.

If I could get the above with a red metallic we could switch the white to silver and stay "with our roots".

If we were going to do a Forgiven (only) lanyard, I'd push for the blue, but for me, Oscar's art is entertaining, but a bit difficult visually for me.

So, indeed, let's hear from anyone interested, but I kinda already like the "roots" version.

And the wicked idea? Well, many of all kinds of people that I know use pins on lanyards. Particularly the members of the Emmaus and Kairos communities (I figure a LOT of you will know who those are, and if not, ask me if you want to know). So, the wicked idea is - how about a cloissone (sp?) pin for each album starting with Sacred? Now that is truly insane, right? That way one lanyard would work just about forever.

Someone have variations on this idea? (wicked grin)

Neck Wallet (http://www.lanyardstore.com/cheapest-neck-wallet.htm)

I have to wear a neck wallet everyday...this is an alternative, and would give everyone a chance to have a place to carry a ticket in a pinch...

Just throwing the idea out there.

For the last Street Team badge I had I just added another clear "pocket" to the lanyard clip, and used that to carry my ticket. That way I didn't have to fumble around in my bag looking for my ticket for the ushers/security. The second "pocket" was behind the street team badge. And, it was fun to accumulate tickets to all the different shows that I attended as the year progressed.

Neck wallet- Great idea- I have one for traveling w/ kids when we go, cuz I'm ALWAYS afraid I'll get pick pocketed!! LOL

Now the cell phone/ iPod thingy-- LOVE this idea, especially along w/ the lanyard for shows!! OMG!
I have this recorder thingy that goes on my iPod (80gig-video classic), and it RECORDS! I tried it out 'in secret' back in May....and I think if I could get it out in the OPEN more, it would record a show great...and that little do-hickey thing-a-ma-jig would be PERFECT for that!! LOL

Heck- I'm willing to order me one just for the HECK of it! LOL I like it SO much!!!!!! LOL :)

OK, so I'm checking stuff out.

OK, everyone, here's the deal from our original lanyard manufacturer, who recognized us more or less. Prices are a little less than last time it seems to me.

New Lanyard Order

If we want 1" nylon like last time, minimum order is 250

Base price $1.19
High Strength Nylon add $0.05
1 Inch add 0.31
Buckle add 0.20
Velcro neck break add 0.19
Imprint both sides same pattern 0.10
Second color add 0.15
1st color setup $40 / 250 add 0.16
2d color setup $40 / 250 add 0.16

for a total of $2.51 per lanyard before the postage is paid - or about $630.

I tried to get it as close as we had before. 1 inch wide is not only "big enough" for the printing to show, it is lots easier on the neck than narrower material.

The durability and quality were great - colors have worn very well, and I've had color wear off before the material of the lanyard was affected at all.

I personally prefer the safety of a neck break, but if we want to economize on that, I'll just scissor mine and put a velcro break in anyway.

And the buckle has come in handy, but it is hardly required.

I've got some alternatives, and anyone else may certainly propose an answer to this question...I'd really like to revisit a buckle with a built in USB in it for the lanyards, but that's just me. :-)

By the way, here's the site in case someone wants to check the math, or play with alternatives:

http://www.lanyardstore.com/cheap_custom_lanyards.htm

So, that's about where we are. Let me know what you are thinking, everyone.

looks good to me Mark-
I LIKE the neck break they showed on the page link you gave...the plastic pop-in one??? That one I like. Personally, and it's just ME, I don't like velcro on the back of my neck, as the hair gets tangled init & pulls. Like I said, I know it's just me on that! LOL
But I'm good either way really!

I'm in for at least 2!!

Yippie!

AustinStratFan

The pop one gets will raise a knot on your neck... (smile) ... whereas I wear, and have worn the current one non stop for two years. But then, I don't often have hair at collar level to catch in the velcro, so I understand completely.

So maybe that option gets clobbered, and I just cut and sew the ones I take out of the pile.

Other folks?

My vote is for the lanyard without the velcro--like Rita, the velcro gets caught in my hair. And, like Mamacita Ruth said, I think you should add in a little for s&h--so $5-$7 each sounds like a deal to me. Thanks so much for doing this AGAIN Mark--is your wife ok with this?!!!

with a minimum order of 250 .... Mark do you think you can unload these quickly? and do you think the LLB Store will pick them up to sell. Mrs. ASF has been extremely understanding with your committment to the fans. I'm in for 2. and NO velcro as well.

I think you should have us paypal in our orders in advance so you don't get stuck with the huge bill like last time. I'm definitely down for at least 10.
