YES :D yes yes yes !!
Just made dinner reservations there for 5PM that day. They have killer cornbread and voodoo shrimp there.... add me and husb to the list for orlando and tampa. :D
kim
Looks like the tickets go on sale the 16th of feb. Whatever you do do not buy the vip seats, they suck. I learned that the hard way. We should all go eat and then get our front of the line thing happening. :) :D :) :D
kimann
02-14-2008, 09:31 AM
I'm glad you have been there janine. I was just on hold thirty minutes to inquire about vip packages but had to hang up as I have a 10am home visit to do and have to get going......as long as I am with the fan club I'll take any seats. I have been there to eat but never for a show. How is the stage set up??
kim :D
You might want to ask about Orlando, I was in Myrtle Beach. The deal was good, 75 dollars, dinner included. But the seats were far from the stage in a enclosed area, the only actual seats, everyone else was standing, or at the bar areas. The general admission people were right up front if they were there early, and very close to the stage. So, I am going for general admission, if there is preferred fan club seats I dont see how. we'll see. I'm calling on the 16th. Where are you staying?
RosieJeanne
02-14-2008, 11:48 AM
I'm getting General admission seats, too!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH - MY DREAM HAS COME TRUE.
" OH BABY "
I already got my tickets...I looked at the Tickets forum, and they were on sale already. JUST BOUGHT MINE, HUBBY AND CREE'S. We are set TO GO --
'OH BABY' I am on CLOUD 9

Janine,
I haven't booked a hotel yet but am planning on staying off 535 and taking a taxi to the venue. There are several hotels within walking distance of the venue like the hilton downtown disney, the doubletree guest suites, both of these are my favs but I will stay further away to save some bucks. There is a nice complex within a ten dollar taxi drive that has a marriott, fairfield suites and and a summerfield suites that I can bid on and get for about $40 bucks plus tax and fees. That's probably the route I will go on. The hotels in downtown disney can also be had for a bit more ($65 and up) on priceline.

You didn't get MardiGras but HOB - that has to be better, right?
We did the 'pass the line' in New Orleans - we thought we were gonna beat the crowd but some other fans had the same idea. We ended up about 30 deep in line - once inside everyone went for Henry's side and center - we ended up on JoJo's side (which is where I prefer to be). Just something to consider - you're gonna have Buddy Guy fans there too - that may be a whole nother story.
Gotta luv HOB - the lighting is incredible! Someone sitting in the balcony had JoJo's attention in this picture. He acknowledged them throughout the show. :p

Cameras.
This is not a joke.
You have to find Kevin...or email him...and ask him to talk to the house.
HOB is funny about it sometimes because they think that patrons are photographing the decor of the place, not the artists.
Almost every time that I have wanted to get a camera in, I have done so, and I think VS and some of the others would say the same. And my rig is nothing compared to the magnificent rig that VS carries, not to mention Tres.
Ask Kevin politely. His email is listed, and he has always been on our side in this.
ASF
Hey Mark - did you hear my scream from where you are???? :D :o You know I'm excited. Anyway, I will email Kevin and plea. I know he would understand. Wish you were able to come 'cuz we weren't able to hook up last time you were here. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Just about 2 months away :) :) :)

On cameras. I don't know how HOB feels about cameras, but most venues i've been to are okay with them AS LONG as the artists are okay with them. The best thing to do is ask the venue.
ASF is right. If HOB is not okay with them, Kevin is next on the email list. A kind inquiry might go a long way in achieving this request.

Truer words never spoken, Cree.
Kind.
Polite.
Respectful.
Understanding.
The house KNOWS cameras will be smuggled in, and they'll confiscate some. But LLB has always been photo and taper friendly. HOB may not know that. Help them understand. :-)
And if there were any way AT ALL, I'd be there. I did promise that my travel money this year would be for East Coast shows, cuz there's a whole bunch of team that direction that I have not met. If it works out, it works out.

Hey y'all!! It could be that Buddy Guy doesn't want cameras. But I think still contacting Kevin is a good idea, just to see what his opinion will be.

HOB policy is no cameras and they are very strict about it regardless of the band's policy. Our group tried to take a group picture before the show even started and we were pounced on immediately. They can't stop you from using your cell phone camera but yeah - they will make their way to you through the crowd to conviscate. To be honest, I don't ask Kevin for anything - I just feel he's too busy for this sort of thing. And I'm not trying to discourage - It's just my personal feeling. :o Thanks to AAP I was able to secure a Photo Pass and that means 1 person. The rules for Photo Pass is you can take pictures during the first 3 songs (which is what most "no camera" venues allow Press to take - then you put your camera away). My advise - Onda Cover. And bring it out during the last song or encore. I'm curious at the "newsletter" that says LLB will be "supporting" Buddy Guy. Not sure if that means they are the opening act or if they will be playing with him as his band. If they are the opening band - then your chances of taking pictures throughout the whole show is more possible. We were able to do that when TMX and Papi Mali opened up for the Boys in New Orleans.
I was curious about the "supporting" phrase also. That to me sounds like they are going to be his band. If anyone calls HOB, ask.

We had a place last summer(cape cod-remember girls??hehehe) that had a STRICT no-camera rule....but we talked to the manager, and then had that guy go talk to Glen, and we won the place over! :D & were able to take pictures.
Then there was WolfTrap in Vienna VA in 2006-- also a No-camera place, and unbeknown to me(&others), they changed their minds at the last moment & allowed cameras....because someone got 1 of the 'crew' to talk to management (kevin or Geln, I don't know...)--banderchick(mon&dad too) got some Good pics, but I didn't :(
I REALLY like the HOB, and SO want pictures from there...will be greatly sad if I can't get any.... we'll see...and I've got the boobs to "Hide" my camera---lol---no great set-up like VS, just a simple little HP camera!
And ASF...I hope you DO make it our way this year.....tho no shows as of Yet for anything higher than NYC.... :p

The HOB rules are no flash photography policy, however i found this information on a 'business' page which contains information for folks who are actually putting on a production inside HOB. I sent an email to clarify, but after reading Velvetsky's post....
I have sneaky suspicion she is correct. I am just trying to force them to clarify information.... :D I try.

Hey all
I've been checking out hotels near the venue and everything is open for reservations and very pricey right now. I will let y'all know if I find something.
Checked out Buddy Guy - I think it's gonna be a great show. A rock and roll legend like buddy has got to bring out the best in the los lonely boys. Can't wait to meet you all - rosie, bop, janine, amore, cree and all the kids and husb coming along too! :D

Thought all would enjoy this great write-up about the upcoming DREAM show!
Los Lonely Boys and Buddy Guy will blast Texican rock ‘n roll, blues in Florida in April by Kay B. Day, independent journalist
"Talk about a music lover’s dream—Buddy Guy and Los Lonely Boys are doing the House of Blues in Orlando in April. Both are unique artists—real musicians—at a time when individuality is in limited supply. Both Guy and LLB have the equivalent of voice in writing—I’d know their music anywhere. Guy taps into the blues, with an attitude that puts you smack in the middle of the South. Maybe you have to grow up here to feel it, but I can tell you if Buddy Guy is ever in your area and you want to hear some real blues, he’s your man. Same with LLB’s approach, except their slant is what they call Texican rock ‘n roll—you’ll hear strains of Santana, Skynyrd and Stevie Ray in the strings, with some of the smoothest vocals around.
LLB will also be at the Tampa Blues Festival. I’ll do a story once I go; hoping to set up interviews, so stay tuned.
On my best days, when I get out of the office to clear my brain, I pop the sunroof, plug in the music and take to the road. Keeps me sane. Almost."

Hi Ruth
Thanks for the snippet. I feel the same way. A music lover's dream!
Speaking of getting outside and enjoying the music - the fav part of my day is when I put my mp3 player on and head out to lunch somewhere in town. Keeps my day rolling along and a smile on my face... :D

You can take your camera's - You just can't use them inside the venue. If security is anything like New Orleans - they appear suddenly and ask you to put your camera away nicely or say NO PICTURES. Either way - We never argue or become confrontactional - we follow the rules. In New Orleans the bus parked right in front of the venue with barricades - both times JoJo came out after the show. Ringo came out for a few minutes in September as well as Papa Garza. If you don't want to chance your camera's being confiscated - take disposables. They take nice pictures and at least you have a back up plan.

At the HOB here in Anaheim, they let you check in your camera inside of the store and they give you a ticket to come back and claim it after the show.

Hey y'all, I just found this comment on a blog, (don't ask me how I found it, it was from a link of a link of a link...) but, I thought you would all like to read this...
*Be sure to try to get Pass the Line--I wrote customer service for HOB and here's what they told me:
Pass the line is our program that rewards people that eat in our restaurant on the day of the show. Or if you purchase something from our retail store on the day of the show. In the retail store it has to be something $20.00 or more per person. And in the restaurant it’s an entrée per person. The restaurant is usually the cheaper way because you can get a pizza or a burger for an average of $10.00 per person. Either place you decide to go, tell the person that is helping you that you would like to participate in pass the line, and they will have a manager sign your receipt. You HAVE to be in the pass the line, line 30 mins before door time.
This line, lines up right behind our box office, and they have house of blues security guards working that line, and hour before door time. So just take your receipt to them right behind the box office, and they will place you in line.

I have personally been at the HOB Orlando for a concert and it is indeed an intimate setting.
30 more days, and counting!
LOOPIES & LONELIES.... I am so "ready" for this concert!!! :D I still can't believe they are coming to 'my hometown'. My hubby and I are taking a vacation day just to be there early enough - so is 'Sweet Cree".
If you all don't mind, can we get an updated list going here? I want to make sure I know who's who, please? Don't mean to be a pain - OK!!?
House of Blues is going to have "LOOPIES" & "LONELIES" all over the place:
1. Amore (Ev)
2. Amore's hubby - Jim
3. Cree (my buddy)
I cant make a list, boo hoo! But I know that me and my daughter, Devin are going. Roise, Rita, Kristen, Kimann, her husband, Pat, and Debbie. I think Cherie and Jim, too. Anyone else ready for some texican rock and roll? :)

Three more days until we leave! I'm just starting to get impatient! But I DID make a sign that says "Play one for BELA!" So, I hope they do. I hope they play C&C or "Baby you're gonna see" at the blues fest. I like when Jojo says "We're gonna go down to Texas" before he plays that song! LOL!! It's too cute! So, I will be thinking of you girls that couldn't make it. You know you will be there in spirit! And Texas is only around a month away! Then we have AUGUST! Wooo Hoooo! So, just keep on saving your pennies! Wish me luck on my plane ride! You know me... Not a "plane person".

AWESOME REVIEW....
JimAbbott on Apr 12, 2008 1:29:39 AM
It was a night for guitar heroes — and not the video-game kind.
Blues legend Buddy Guy and Los Lonely Boys, the latter powered by the fiery solos of legend-in-the-making Henry Garza, unleashed a stellar combination of blues, rock and Tex-Mex styles on Friday at House of Blues. It showed that you don’t need light shows or big video screens, at least when the musicians are capable of such fireworks.
Los Lonely Boys, the trio of brothers from San Angelo, Texas, make fine studio recordings, but none of them compares with the sparks that fly on stage.
Henry Garza, of course, is the catalyst. Wielding an assortment of Stratocasters, he conjured a sound that careened from Stevie Ray Vaughan to old-school R&B to something close to Carlos Santana. Often, the influences tumble into each other within the same song, or even the same solo.
That prowess is matched by his brothers — bassist JoJo Garza and drummer Ringo Garza. Together, they deliver songs that embrace the blues ("I Am the Man to Beat") or twist it into hard-driving Latin rock ("Oye Mamacita") or hooky pop ("Nobody Else").
Although the band’s marathon instrumental jam was technically impressive, the Boys really excel when they harnesses that skill in service of compact songs such as the signature "Heaven."
And the legend?
Guy’s guitar approach in his 80-minute set was lean and intense on rowdy favorites such as "Rock Me Baby" and "Hoochie Coochie Man."
In top form, as he was on Friday, he pits stinging solos with understated interludes that take things down to a whisper.
His skillful use of dynamics was showcased in "I’ve Got Dreams to Remember," a ballad that built from a flicker to a flame.
Of course, the guy knows how to show off, whether it’s taking his traditional stroll through the audience, using a hand towel on the strings to emit some wild feedback or playing "Sunshine of Your Love" holding the guitar aloft with one hand.
"This kind of blues don’t get played on your radio anymore," Guy lamented.
Fortunately, there are guitar heroes around to keep it alive.

I just finished reading that review (Google alerts are the best!) Ruth and was about to post it... you are the "quick draw Mcgraw" here. :)
And I'm just about in tears of happiness that the reviewer referred to Henry as a "legend in the making" - as we all know he is! It was a great review and here's a shout out to:
DEBBIE...... Thank you thank you for the 2 calls last night!!! Man to Beat was clear and I had goose bumps - and then another call with a bad connection but I could hear you all having a great time. :o Hope today at the Blues Fest in Tampa is another awesome time. Pat, thank you for NMAW and Debbie for HEAVEN. Watching the look on my grandson's face as he was holding the phone listening was priceless. Later he told me he wanted to "watch them so he could jam out to their music"... LOL!!, so I put on their TEXICAN STYLE dvd and he proceeded to sing and dance. :) You and LLB made a little guy very happy. Keep on rockin' ladies!!

Hello everybody!!!!!
I am back from the florida trip. The HOB show was the best show of all time to me. It was like being in your favorite honky-tonk in your hometown and having the finest band in the world playing for the night. I had a very hard time getting to sleep friday night because I could not stop thinking about it or smiling. The smile is still there right now:)
Thanks for posting the set list tasina. :D
La Onda was all in the first three rows in front of the stage and I guess all of the boys could feel our energy as they were off the hook. Henry was so perfect in his playing and was the happiest I have ever seen him. He kept making jokes and kidding around with his brothers and the crowd. Jojo was ecstatic at seeing all of the loyal fans and interacted with many of them. It was pure magic. Ringo was as usual high flying hair and just keeps getting more talented on the drums. It seems as though the boys just improve their musical performance every gig they play. :)

They were just so amazing, didn't want it to end!!!!!! :D
I was on the front row, at Henry's feet at this show! :D :D :D :D . I had the best seat in the house!!! Those of you who were there with me, you know how happy I am. :) I am so glad to of met everyone and to have that experience with my daughter. I am truly blessed, Thank you Garza brothers!

Thanks for sharing all your stories.

I can feel your enthusiasm...and I well KNOW the "smile" thing, it won't come off for WEEKS! :D Kel (DigginTheBoys) and I were gifted by Ev (Amore) on Friday...THANKS, girl! She called as we were finishing up dinner out. We walked out of the restaurant singing "Oye Mamacita", with patrons staring at us..:D We sat in my car in the rain, listening together on her cell speaker....We were both just sitting there grinnin', laughin', singing along...We'd WHOOP and holler when the girls would whoop and holler. GREAT times...listened to about five songs, very clear. When it was over, we sat in the silence of the rain on the windshield, tears of joy and melancholy (because most of my concert days are over) rolling down my cheeks...When I got home, there were about five more messages on my machine from the Florida contingency! Don't know who it was for sure (no caller id), but GOD BLESS you girls, whoever you are, for making an ol' lady VERY HAPPY! CAN'T WAIT for our turn in August!!

Ruth, I am so glad you and Kelly were together when I called. Also, I glad you could hear the songs 'cuz I know I was definitely one of the 'whoops' involved. I couldn't help myself. It was fantastic; and so was the Bluesfest. I actually got lyrngitis on Sunday, and today, I still had trouble talking. Everyone at work got a big kick out of me - didn't realize that I was that crazy - duh? I'm blonde ya know. LOL :D :D

Our trip was nice! First our 3:30 pm flight got delayed till 5:30, so we got there at 8:30 and had to rent the car, etc, so we ended up getting there at around 11 PM. Nice 4 br, 3 bath Condo for $89/ nite! But we had a nice time, the show at HOB was great! We got to see "TampaGurl" which was a real treat we weren't expecting! Got to meet Janine, Devon, Kimann & Chuck & Michelle for the first time! It was really nice! I know we will all be seeing eachother again after that great show left us wanting more! No cameras (which sucked), I became the camera girl, bringing all the cameras to the check in booth, while the others ran to the front of the stage. Saw Ian, and said HI. The boys were there in full force, awesome as usual! They lit the house on fire. You know that they KNOW HOW TO DO IT!!! They started out with Crossroads by Clapton. Good song. Jojo was smiling at us. Kristen made a sign that said "Massachusetts loves Los Lonely boys!" Right before "Heaven" I had a sign that said "Play one for Bela" and Jojo saw it, and started pointing to the floor saying This one's for her! That was so nice. He really is a awesome person. I brought about 100 glow sticks, and it was cool! But the boys didn't come out after. Buddy Guy is REALLY FUNNY! He's like a comedian! Really a great entertainer, and musician. I wish I could have got pics with them all. Overall a great night, and the boys were UNBELIEVABLE!! I want MORE!!! I guess I'll have to wait for August in Va. & NYC! Oh, and NO JAM with Buddy & The boys. :(

Hi All My Traveling Sisters in FL - Debbie, Michelle (my "Primo" Sisters Onda Road!), Rita (my roomie - we could have stayed up for another 5 hours talking!), Rosie (Thanks for booking the fabulous condo - We sure know how to have fun in FL, don't we? ;), darling Kristen (our official La Onda Signmaker that always gets Jojo's attention!) and my new "ondamates" I'm so glad that I finally met you all - Cree, Ev (and Lonely Jim), Janine, Devon, Kimann and Chuck! And Kim! It was so good to see you and hang out with you - I'm SO glad that you drove to see us in Orlando, got to see the Boys (just like last year when we saw them in Tampa! Remember Panchito?) and that you got all of your gifts to the Boys! Keep in touch!
We had a blast in DT Disney at the famous "House of Blues", didn't we? Even with the no camera rules, we were able to get the best places right in front of the stage and were the recipients of the BEST, mind-blowing ONDA that I've ever heard!!! Henry was literally ON FIRE starting up with one rift leading into another! When Jo would step in to start his part, Henry would start up another rift and Jo would step back and let Henry wail! Jo then stepped in and tore up his bass and it was so great to be right in front of him, watching his fingers just blur as he ripped it up! And Ringo was in his element - pounding the drums, adding new beats that I've never heard before and brought the crowd to a wild, cheering frenzy! Thanks for posting the setlists for us, Tash - you're the best!
Buddy Guy owned the House with his playing - even walking off into the crowd with his guitar and playing from the audience. The highlight of his performance was when he played a medley of SRV, Albert King, BB King and a "friend of his from Cream - Eric Clapton!
The only photo of the evening was La Onda FL standing outside of the House of Blues with the banner! http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/4465/laondahob041208zu8.jpg
