Mama's Tortillas

Hey, after watching the show "Let's Eat" with Mama Garza from one of the threads, she was giving the recipe to the 'famous tortillas' that she makes for The Boys. Also, a breakfast burrito. I could not quite make out the recipe, so I was wondering if anyone knew them? Now granted she was cooking a large portion to feed Ringo....LOL... and a little bit for everyone else, but if the portion was cut down some would be nice.

I want to try a "TORTILLA". :eek: :D

They USED to have the recipes on that site, Ev? Try going back there and looking. They usually post the recipes after the show. I know they had spamcheros up.

I make some good breakfast burritos! Its just scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage, bacon, cheddar cheese and picante sauce, though pico de gaio(SP?)is good,too. Wrapped up in a flour tortilla. I used to know a woman in Austin, who would make tons of them and sell them on concruction sites, every day. yumm yumm!!! :)

Hey, I can make taco shells. From a corn tortilla. My Aunt Wana taught me. I'm so proud of myself. Her Mama taught her how to make the corn tortilla from scratch...but she says she could never get the tortilla perfectly round like her Mom did. oh well. :rolleyes:

My mom's tortilla recipe

3 cups flour
2 t baking powder
2 t salt
2 t lard or shortening
9 oz water

mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add lard and mix with hand. Add water and mix and knead masa with hands until a smooth ball. Break off or cut into small balls. Roll into round shapes with rolling pin. Cook on mediam hot griddle, turning twice until browned. Makes about 8 medium sized tortillas.

Enjoy! It takes practice to get them round. :)
