I have not seen this thread here in the club yet. I know there's an LLB one...and I think there's one on the public forum. Please let me know if one exists.

Come On Home...Indigenous

Awesome. Just awesome. Mato Nanji is just superb, his voice...he has some soul up in that guitar. I bought the album Chasing The Sun from Borders Book Store...the cashier commented that she saw them perform live at a jazz or blues festival and said they were "pretty da** good".

My favorite bands which I listen too constanty are The Allman Brothers, never get tired of the guitar and vocals. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And of course Stevie Ray, I lived in Austin at the time of his death. But my all time favorite, even though they came later, is Los Lonely Boys. But I also love acoustic rock, like Jack Johnson, Ben Harper, and Dave Matthews. So thats where I'm coming from! :) Crank it up!

Two different people gave hub a copy of the Ultimate Santana CD for Christmas, so that's been our working music lately. We were also given the new Missy Higgins album, that's our relaxing music. :) I gave him the new Waifs album and we don't like it near as much as their previous releases. Nevermind. I like to support independent Aussie artists.

Oh girl, Mato's voice just takes you to another dimension. . you gotta get "Long Way Home" which is Ronnie's fav., he come onto the Indigenous scene since LLB played with them. I'm related to the Zephiers so I was a streeteamer when they first started touring, and their first cd "THings we Do" has some amazing songs on it. If you love his voice, get this to hear him sing sweet love songs to ya. . :)

I'm loving Maroon 5 right now.

Cass, I think Emmylou has such a beautiful voice. Right now I'm listening to ALMOST LOVER by A FINE FRENZY (Alison Sudol). She kinda has that Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos quality about her.

you got it bad girl :)

I just did another road trip, to Brisbane to visit my youngest son in his new home. We drove him out to his University, a nice facility approx. 1 hour drive on a good road. Reassured us all I think. He lives near the stadium where I have seen U2 in concert. My heart skipped a beat as we drove by...fond memories.

I listened mainly to the radio, but put on an Aretha Franklin CD. By far the best music I heard was WILLIE NELSON. I adore the song "Across the Borderline" and another fave "Valentine" was playing just as we arrived home. Blessed.

I miss my sons :(

White Buffalo - Runa Pacha

Went to FL state fair in Tampa yesterday. Runa Pacha Wind Rhythms are so cool. I think the young guy at their sales table remembers me every year. He always smiles and waves & points out their new stuff to me. They are from the Andes. This year they had a new album called White Buffalo, so I bought it. Maybe I will make it back again while the fair is in Tampa, there were other things I was eyeing but didn't have enough cash on me.

The pan flutes are exquisite to hear. They have done a lot of American tunes with their instruments but i love their traditional songs as opposed to songs i can hear at any time.

My whole family loves Pantera. So glad we saw them last time they toured Australia. Kiss are in Australia at the moment and when I think of Darrell I think of him clomping around in those big Kiss boots :D My kids are going to see Ozzy Osbourne on Thursday night. We are hoping that Zac Wyldd will be playing with him . Surely he will.
I just drove to the city to collect a friend from the airport. She got off the plane waving a CD at me. "look what I found" It was the first Los Lonely Boys album. So that's one more small sale for them in Oz...don't spend it all at once boys :)
Unfortunately she also bought an Amy Winehouse CD which we played in the car. Now I have that song stuck in my head..."they tried to make me go to rehab...no, no...."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO - make it go away  :D ;)

We also listened to LLB. She said "this song always makes me feel happy"

Had to come an tell you...my son just arrived after seeing Ozzy last night. I asked if Ozzy still "has it"? He said it was one of the best shows out of all the bands he's seen in the past few years. I jokingly asked if he had a plectrum. "yeah, two" he replied. "not Zakk's, Blasko the bass player". My son was on the stage barrier in front of Ozzy (like mother like son). His younger brother was further back and said he kept seeing his brother on the big screen....rotfl. And yes Ozzy mooned the crowd ( can't help his oldself) so dubious honour of seeing that up close.... rock-n-roll.....Texican and otherwise. :D

family and music = happy :)

I listened to Ted Hawkins for the first time in ages last night. "The Next One Hundred Years" album. He has the most wonderful voice. I taught myself most of the songs on that album. REALLY made me miss being able to play the guitar.
I made hub laugh the other morning. I heard one note on the radio and said "That's Willie!" A song I'd never heard before but his guitar sound is so distinctive. It was "Goodnight Irene" duetted with Tom Petty **applause**

and jmecale...I don't think a Spanish language album by LLB would alienate people. I am amazed how much I have learned listening to songs. Also it's a heart-melting language even if you don't understand all that is being said :)
