Your grand-daughter surely is beautiful Tasina. My mum said my 6 month old grand-niece is the best thing that brings a bit of joy to my old dad. I look forward to being a grandparent one day. Another good reason to take care of our planet.
I'm just about growing gills here. It has been raining heavily here for about 2 months now. It poured on the weekend. Our kilometre long driveway is going to need lots of repairing :( **backache just thinking about it**. Here's a view out my kitchen window
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cass2/Feb3-2008aa.jpg
The square object in the 2nd pic is our water pump, water lapping at the base of it. It will need rescuing if the rain keeps up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cass2/Feb3-2008.jpg
This 3rd pic is about 50 metres downstream from the house. The clearing is our firebreak.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cass2/Febflood2008.jpg
Can you can see the thin pole in the middle of the creek? That was put there recently by the RTA surveyors, it marks the edge of the freeway they are going to build:( We have satelite markers all over our place now **freaky**
When our boys were younger they used to jump on their surfboards and sail down the creek on the flood water. The water is so cold and fresh. Sadly a 15 year old boy drowned near here yesterday doing just that with his mates.

A glimpse for you of my world :) you can come back out now sun....

nope...still rainin'

RosieJeanne
02-04-2008, 05:08 PM
Wow! I hope you don't float away! I can't believe the water. Do you have a basement? If so, it must be flooded. I hope the worst is over for you. I'll think sunny thoughts for you. Too bad about the boy, huh? Why does that have to happen. Just remember, there's always someone who's less fortunate. I always try to count my blessings.

cass
02-04-2008, 05:15 PM
Cheers Rosie. yes part of our house is below ground level. Past experiences have led us to improve drainage and water-proofing but it is getting extreme now, the ground is saturated, water is gushing out of the hillside in places. Hub picked a nice hillock for the house site, so far, so good. I'm on patrol today looking for wet patches appearing and am going to start moving things that may be damaged by moisture. Land of extremes. Not long ago it was drought and bushfire :)
Yeah I feel for that boy's mother. He was missing overnight.

Beautiful pics Cass! You live in such a beautiful place.

I saw a film on TV about your land and I thought of you and the beautiful pics of flowers and plants you always post for us to enjoy. Hope the rain lets up soon.

Took this one last Sunday. It is just a part of the over 100 acres at the Red Butte Garden. LLB will be playing at their newly constructed amphitheater on July 30 here in Salt Lake City. It is high enough in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains that you can see the whole valley for miles.

I was photographing the wheels my son bought for the Camaro (as you do....hopefully not so we can remember them if someone steals them) They are Boyd Coddington's and I am amazed that even after paying a hefty import tax they cost half what they would have if he had bought them in Australia. He was at the importers the other day and they were unloading their latest container of cars from the USA **dream stuff, wonders if Americans are importing Australian cars?** :D

Not to be outshone, my beloved chihuahua jumped up and made sure he was in the picture. He's such a character

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/cass2/cambo2.jpg

I'm writing about him today as in 2 hours I am taking him to the vet for surgery. He is sitting at my feet right now in his "I am not amused " pose. He is not allowed to eat or drink because of the general anaesthetic. We found out last week he has a heart defect. Because of that and the fact he is small and old, the operation is a bit more risky. I surely will be relieved when i have him back safe in my arms.

thanks for all the great pics!

We post on other sites, different things and wanted to share 'my world' this past weekend. . my son came to visit from South Dakota (where our people are from) and he brought his gf's nephew as well as his own family.

Here is a few pics of 'my boys'. . far end is Dione's nephew, Taylor, and my son (middle) Akicita, and of course Ronnie. . it was fun watching them race each other, laughing, hollaring. . crashing into each other.

This was at Dave & Buster's , a restaurant with video gamesfor adults (and kids accompanied by adults) .

Can you tell I am not fond of Florida anymore. I want MOUNTAINS instead of the beach (I burn real easy LOL), and sun instead of rain.

Of course Ev! lol
I'm an original Florida cracker, so I don't know any different. lol

Ev, i was born and raised in Jacksonville, till the age of 18, then moved back at 25 till 4 yrs ago,so I know! We were there when a hurricane blew down the Jax Beach pier, and Ive had a tornado come past the kitchen window during dinner one night, with no warning. But nothing tops the Cosmic burst the blew the chimney off the house in Austin, back in 1990. :) Didnt you know I was a Florida girl? Thats why I seem so normal!

Hey don't you love watching the stupid reporters when they stand out IN the hurricanes to get a good report to you?? The funniest 2 I ever seen was during hurricane Frances and Charley...The guy in hurricane charley got somersaulted right on camera and then the guy in Hurricane Frances got knocked in the head by a palm tree..."Stupid, stupid, STUPID!" I wish I remembered what stations they were with. Adam Sandler couldn't have made better entertainment than that.

My niece was married on Saturday. It was a joy and I told her husband it's for keeps, she's from a long-line of committed long-term marriages. Their wedding ceremony was meant to be here on the headland, but it was waaaayy too windy, blowing a gale.

thought I'd show you this as it turned out OK. Hub is on 2 weeks school break at the moment. I like to tease him, he turned 54 on the weekend) **faint**
I'm always up at dawn, so I took him to the beach. We almost had it to ourselves at that hour, except for a pod of humpback whales. A mother and her calf were leaping out of the water not far offshore. It was magic.

I had to 'find' a picture of my brother for his memorial on Monday....long story, but no access to photos, so this is the one I ended up using. This is my two brothers and myself about 21 years ago (and 100 pounds lighter for ME...LOL!). My brothers were 6'5 (Jim) and 6'7" (Larry, the one that just passed), 12 and 10 years older than me. A lot to LOOK up to, and live up to....They were great brothers!

Hi,

Nice Christmas decoration!

I have moved together with my boyfriend into a house and this is the first time for us, having our own done up Christmas tree!

Here it is in our living room:

We got such a great grown tree, can you believe it is real? It is, and we are going to have it as long as we can. Usually here in Austria, the tree gets put down on our national holiday 6th of January. It is a Church holiday, the holy 3 king day. But, some people leave it until about the 10th of January, if the tree is not leaving too many needles. So, that's what we are going to do :)

And, I thought I would share "us" with you, since we are "still" so much in love after 2 1/2 years together now. The photo was done by my dad, he is into photo design on the PC, so he likes to experiment ;)

Wow! that's quite the Santa collection! thanks for sharing with us. .
Mel it's good to see where you come from and a bit about your family!

I was slowly putting away our Christmas decorations yesterday with Ronnie. . and took a few pics.

This year I while I was putting up some of the past La Onda/ LLB ornaments, I was inspired to make some of my grandkids. I wanted to share some pictures of them.

Gifts from my commadre, LLBheaven

we had handmade Raiders, A's, La onda/LLB and my grandkids. .

http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/EEVLWYS/IMG_0453-1.jpg

I also made a few of Ronnie and I with his mother. . .it was our/his first Christmas without her, so this helped a little:

then, as I was putting our Stockings away, I had to take a pic of mine (on top) of course Ronnie's is the Raiders one:
http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s265/EEVLWYS/IMG_0448.jpg

Every year for the past 30 years, the Native community has been going out to Alcatraz Island which was originally a sacred place to the Ohlone people. in the 60's we took over the island. According to federal law, any land no longer being used was to go back to the Native Nation . . that didn't happen of course. .

but for years, thousands of Native people and allies, gather for a sunrise ceremony. I was the Emcee this year . .and we were honored with a song from Janice Gardipe who is A LOOPIE!. . and I just wanted to share this picture of her singing. . with the fire (which was in the center of the circle) on Alcatraz

Broke down and got a new camera, so where to try it out? Well, since the weather here is finally above freezing, all of the lakes are still pretty frozen from the weeks of sub-zero (20 below+), I went out and took a few shots of the crazy people ice-fishing....I'm not a photog, but I was impressed with the camera because I was way up on shore and quite a distance away. I really thought the little kids playing on the ice were cute.....(my bum would be COLD!!)

Thanks for the pics Ruth. Kelly looks so happy. Seeing as it is only 27 degrees where I am right now, that beach looks extra inviting...I'd love to be soaking up some of that sun. :D

We spent a lot of time outdoors this weekend. This is what I like to call the "real Florida"...this is my own private paradise. It is quite beautiful and our sunsets are breathtaking. yesterday we watched the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. Today we took the kids for a picnic lunch at a local park that also is the tail end of a natural spring. though you can't tell, the water is pretty clear straight to the bottom. the county was having trouble keeping folks out of the pretty 72 degree water, so they finally put up a floating dock to keep us safe. :D

It sure was warm over the weekend, high 80's..but that 72 water temp is still too chilly for me! Our pool water is 75 and the kids had to jump in!

Wow! Beautiful pictures! mamacita, I KNOW your daughter HAS to be having a great time! Beautiful place, handsome man, new & exciting! And you girls in Florida don't know how good you have it! Here in Mass, it's about 40 degrees today. And that's warm! And here at the beach in the summer, the water is about 55 degrees! Love all the pictures!

Heh. oooohhhhh yes I do!! I know what I got. It's called P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E. 72 degree water is frigid....55 degree water? OUT of the question. I bet your Christmases are awfully beautiful Rosie...but I'll take sand in my shoes on Christmas day ANY DAY over snow. Even in 90 degree weather, spring water is a little chill to dive into. Just gotta look twice for gators before diving in! :D

Thanks so much, Ruth. Yes, that's Mom and Dad on the far right front row (with sister Martha between them; wearing peace sign t-shirt).

We are all blessed to still be together after all these years. It's really nice to have a big extended family and we always have so much fun when we get together. :D

Some pics from our family picnic on Sunday. This was at my cousin's lake and cabin. The guy in the yellow t-shirt is my uncle John, 86, last remaining member of my mom's brothers and sisters. My aunt said she made him wear that t-shirt "so we can find him"...LOL! And he WAS everywhere, believe me!

Here in my part of Austria the snow is almost gone due to milder temperatures. So no white Christmas for us this year!!
