Traveling Banner 2007

2007 was a truly wONDAful year, wasn’t it?
I never imagined in January that my little idea for a Banner to be shown at a concert would have taken off as well as it did!!! My thought was--- let the Boys see that we here in the North East love them enough to travel long distances(and face a fear of flying-right Rosie?) just to see them perform, and to show it by displaying a banner announcing NewEngland was ‘in the house’. THAT was the original concept behind the Traveling Banner! It went to most of the Florida shows, in early February, and then I began to wonder if it could possibly go to other shows. I mean, we’re all pretty chatty on-line, so why not try, right???
I was Blown Over by the responses I got from people I asked if they thought it was a good idea or not. I got so many “Hell Yeah, I’d take it to a show!”, that I decided to try. What harm could it do, right???
Well, as everyone knows, the Banner was a HUGE success with La Onda! There is no other group of people like La Onda! The closeness of everyone, the caring, warmth, and Familia shared amongst people, it is Amazing! So the success of the Traveling Banner goes out to EVERYONE who hosted it, and believed in it. Everyone who got their picture taken with it, and those who wanted to but didn’t!
I bow to YOUR greatness, and send out my THANKS for making the Traveling Banner the semi- icon it was this year!

2007 had me personally going to 4 back to back shows in New England, traveling with La Onda Familia. What Great FUN it was “ ONDA ROAD” w/ Debbie, Pat, Rosie, Kristen(Haley& Michelle), Trish, Nancy, Bela, NancyVT, & Amy! OMG! LOL Katherine- it was so great to see you again, next year you’re coming along! Patty- how great we got to do 2 shows with you! Thanks to Charlie for the picture taking! Next year we do it again, right?? And to all those we met on the way- it was amazing! How I am always in AWE of our Boys, and what they continue to Give to us. It’s not JUST about the music any more.
Deb & Pat—it was fun riding with you both! The laughs & the joy (the Pirate)were wONDAful! MORE Hard Rock Café’! And the drinks were uh, INTERESTING!!!------ Pizza anyone???

Getting together outside of the concert going arena was also amazing fun! New England met in September for lunch/dinner at a restaurant(though I couldn’t make that one!). In October we met for a SWAG idea/crafting session at Debbie’s house. Ideas were flying that day, and the fun was spilling over! November we invaded RosieJean’s home for a general crafting session, and another chance to talk, laugh and eat with each other! I have GOT TO get me one of those sewing machine’s that stitches words! Looking forward to possibly the next get together in January. It’s good to know you have friends you get along with for longer than the three hours you spend at a show w/ them!! Hahahaha

The highlights of MY year has got to be:
The success of the Traveling banner……doing 4 shows in a row…..giving Joey the LLB dolls I made & seeing his reaction to them…Henry telling me how proud he was of my daughter grad. HS/& going to college…..Finally getting a picture w/ Ringo!....Making Tasina 3(!!!)prs of photo earrings(because she kept losing them)..and
having such wONDAful frinds like YOU!

You are right, Rita. It was a great idea, and it was so nice of everyone to make sure the banner made it to it's next destination/show! I wish I could have personally BEEN that banner. Like we said before, if only the banner could talk! What stories it would tell! But it was alot of fun, and you'll have to think of another project for 2008~ LOL!!! It was awesome to see the pictures of all the LaOnda girls (and guys) from all over the USA with it! I can't wait for more New England shows (Or further), and I would really like to see the looks on the faces of the 3 girls if they get to see Jojo in person again! (after all the tears on the last day in New Haven) That would make my day. But I just wanted to say THANKS, RITA! It was a handful keeping track of that banner, but you did a great job!

Got to say, the amount of names & signatures on it is so wONDAful!!! I was surprised to see it so FULL of names,dates,places!

I felt emotional to see it again, after nearly 6 months of it being out on the road!! Was like when I saw my daughter for the 1st time since she went off to college!! hahahaha

So now I'm working on a scrap book---pictures of names to go along with the show pictures of ONDA w/ the banner.....

Thank you again to EVERYONE who made this project as much fun as it was in 2007 :cool:

I think the idea is to have ONE banner that follows the boys ALL OVER, not just one area. . .right?

And to make sure that whoever signs up to handle it, sends it out PRONTO so the next loopie receives it in time. There was a glitch mid tour last year, when a few shows went by while someone held onto it.

It would be great to have it be lightweight like it was. . so easy to put into a baggie and mail cheaply. . . that was a great touch there Rita.

Janie Where do you live? I'm asking because the traveling Banner started is from the East Coast Vermont to be exact and travels all over the country to where ever the Boys are.

Rita--The 2007 traveling banner was such a great idea, and we REALLY enjoyed every minute! It actually was here on the west coast quite a bit--we were REALLY lucky last year--plus, Rob and I and Chiqui were able to take it to Hawaii!!! That sure did add some miles onto it's travels! So, I'm hoping that you/we do something similar this year. Like Tasina said, something that's lightweight and fits into a sandwich bag, and can be mailed to the next person easily without costing too much. It looks like the first tour date for 2008 is the Oregon show at Grants Pass and then on to 2 dates at Lincoln City the end of March--so hope we (OBTB) can represent with the La Onda Banner for 2008!

Please let us know if we can help you in any way in getting the banner together for 2008. Even though Grants Pass is about a 5-6 hours drive north for us, OBTB will be there, representing! I couldnt read exactly where its been, from the picture, I saw texas and california, and I wasnt on the forum alot until late in the tour last year. I live in Georgia, did it go to Florida last year? But this country is big, and I think we may need more than one! Its cool that it made it all the way to Hawaii! Let me know if I can help.:)

Actually each area makes their own also. .this is just the traveling banner with Rita initiated and was a great link to all the loopies who are committed to receiving it, showing it at a concert and sending it on.
maybe I will start a thread for everyone to post their regional banners. I know So. Cal, all the Texas chapters, Utah, us (OBTB) and many others have banners that they've made for their fan base.

Yeah, the Banner was one that traveled all over--it wasn't JUST a regional one- though that WAS how it started out for those first Florida shows last Jan/Feb. I couldn't go to them, so I asked those who were going to take the banner for me....and then I got the idea of "Wouldn't it be neat if this little thing could go to ALL the shows?" And when I asked the good peoples of La Onda--they of COURSE said "Hell YEah- I'll take it to a show!"....LOL
Over the year 2007, the little banner went about 28,000 miles! Our Boys went more, because the banner just couldn't make a few stops that were hundreds of miles apart.
Everyone who "Hosted" the banner, tried to take a picture of it at the venue, and then we posted them here on the forum, so others could see where the banner was, and who it went with!
From those pictures, I have made the Scrap Book of the places & names on the Banner. Here is the link to the pictures I up-loaded today

My post office guy asked me "Who do you know in Texas?" and I just smiled at him and said "3 of the most talented young men on earth.".

So the scrap book and the banner are on the way to the Boys.

They are thrilled and think it is way cool, not to mention they are so appreciative for all your work and all the time and love that you and the other folks who signed and passed it along have put into the banner.

I haven't seen it yet, myself, but am going to the studio tomorrow and you know I'll be checking it out first thing!

It's great to know that your Traveling Banner is now with the Boys in the Studio! This will definitely be an inspiration for them while recording the new CD, and will remind them of how much we all love and support them.

The Traveling Banner 2008 will be going to the shows in Oregon the end of March...So no, Our shows in Florida won't be it's first....But I do believe we should be able to have it for Florida..... :D
