Latin American Educational Foundation Gala 2008 Celebracion, held March 8 at the Adam's Mark Hotel

* Raised: Around 1,000 people raised more than $535,000 for the foundation, which provides access to higher education for Hispanics in Colorado.

* Comic relief: Nationally known comedian Bill Santiago acted as master of ceremonies, keeping the crowd laughing throughout the program.

* Sponsors: Entertainment: Salazar Family Foundation; other sponsors: Adam's Mark Hotel, Beverage Distributors, Coors Brewing Co., Coors Hispanic Employee Network, Gay & Lesbian Fund for Colorado, Wells Fargo, United Airlines, American Family Insurance and KPMG.

* Honorary dinner chairmen: U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar and Hope Hernandez-Salazar, Gov. Bill Ritter and Jeannie Ritter, Mayor John Hickenlooper and Helen Thorpe.

* That's entertainment: Guests danced onstage for part of a performance by Los Lonely Boys.

* Live auction items: United Airlines state-of-the-art flight simulator experience; trip to The Price Is Right; trip to The Ellen DeGeneres Show; and a guitar autographed by Los Lonely Boys and a backstage meet-and-greet photo opportunity with band members.

* Seen: Rep. Mark Udall, Kay Norton, Stephen Jordan, Rick Garcia, Judy Montero, Al Lacabe, Nick Nuanes, Ralph Peterson.

* Honored guests: Sara Martinez Tucker, recipient of the Sol Trujillo National Lifetime Leadership Award from LAEF, is undersecretary of the U.S. Department of Education. Jacob Sandoval, a junior at Regis University, was awarded the LAEF Student of the Year award.
