I have gone back through my files and found some of my concert reviews. It might be fun to have them out here for referrence. We all love to relive concerts.
6/9/07 Rochester Jazz Festival
Rochester had blocked off several downtown blocks and turned them into a huge party. They had three performing stages on different blocks. The blocks in-between were turned into sidewalk cafes, various vending booths, etc. After a short time we spotted what we hoped was THE bus and headed in that direction. Once we were in front of the stage, we saw Ish doing the sound check with the other techs. Hardly anyone was around. By the way, on a different stage Jerry Lee Lewis was going to perform at the same time as the Boys.
The first act was the Mambo Kings. Before they started, Amy and I went looking for all the people. We found one block with a smaller stage and lots of people either sitting at tables or standing around waiting for the show to start. We had no idea who was performing but there was a nice large crowd so Amy and I each took one side of the street and proceeded to tell people about Los Lonely Boys. I had what I thought was more than enough of the postcards that Kellie designed last year with the Boys and the word Sacred behind them. (I ran out by the end of the night. I started with over 200.) I handed those out and Amy had some promoting C&C. We talked to as many people, and as quickly, as possible. (It was a very large crowd and the performer was taking the stage.) Most people were not familiar with the Boys and I had to describe the music and invite them to join us at 9:00 o’clock at the big stage. (Amy can share her side of the story when she posts.) People were very receptive and most said that they would stop by. They seemed happy to be given a suggestion since there were so many acts going on.
Amy and I had wanted to get some food and water before the Mambo Kings started, but we were so wrapped up with Street Teaming that the time flew by. Amy got a call from Nancy telling us that the Boys had just walked into the bus. We flew back to that stage but only saw Glen. By this time people had started to set their lawn chairs out on the street. We decided we had better get spots in front and center before too many more people arrived. The Mambo Kings opened and were quite good. Anyone who likes jazz should definitely check them out. This was my first time seeing them and I was very impressed.
Then it was time!!! Just before the Boys took the stage the street started to get really packed. The lawn chairs were folded up and people started to crowd around us. The majority of the people around us had either never heard the Boys or were only familiar with the first CD. I spoke with a woman who was seeing them for the first time but loved the music already. She had brought her son Justin, who was a musician but “not into the Boys”. I talked to him for a while and told him how incredible these guys were.
Finally the Boys exploded on the stage, and it was an explosion of energy and sound. The Boys were on fire!! This was my 20th concert and it may have been the best. I have about 400 pictures to go through. I will post some tomorrow but here are some of the highlights:

I can’t begin to describe how incredible these Boys were. The crowd was going wild. Throughout the concert people kept commenting to us about how unbelievable these guys were. I am not going to remember all the comments but the four of us were beaming in the reflected glory. We were so incredibly proud of our Boys. Some of the comments: “The guitar Gods are smiling down on that young man tonight” from a woman who was seeing Henry for the first time. She made the comment to Amy pretty early on in the show. A few times I turned to Justin, and he just kept saying “Awesome. I am completely blown away.” There were many other similar comments. People were completely overwhelmed by the performance and were only too happy to tell us since they knew we were La Onda. The rest of the ladies will have to give their personal observations because we all had people talking to us. At the end of the concert, I immediately started to Street Team. I was handing out the postcards and it seemed like everyone wanted to know more about Boys and where could they get the CD. I just kept telling them where the merch table was and to ask for Sacred.
I wish I could convey the incredible excitement in the crowd during, and right after, the concert. It was one of those magical nights. The Boys were superb as always, but the reaction of the crowd really set them on fire and vice versa. It gives me chills to remember that concert. The excitement was overwhelming. The crowd was huge and completely in love with these guys. At the end when I asked Justin what he thought of his first concert, the poor kid was speechless; he had this huge smile and just kept shaking his head. I finally asked him if this meant he was now a fan. His comment was “For Life!! These guys are totally awesome. I have never seen anything like it.”
I could go on, but I am too tired. I am sure that after I look at the pictures (tomorrow) many more things will come to mind. For now, I want to send a huge CONGRATULATIONS to the Boys for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Between their performance and the electricity they garnered from that crowd, they gave us a performance to remember. The four of us were so incredibly happy (and sad that it was over)! We couldn’t believe what we had just experienced. I remember saying something like “…after twenty concerts, I am as excited as if it were my first”.
